City CouncilMayor Bruce BolenBruce Bolen has been Mayor since November 2005.  He served as a Council member from November 1995 until November 2005 and as a Planning Commissioner from 1994 to 1995. Bruce has been a life-long resident of East Tawas and graduated from Tawas Area High School in 1981.  He attended Michigan Technological University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1985.  He became a Licensed Professional Engineer in 1989 while working for the United States Air Force.  In 1995 Bruce began working for Bolen Asphalt Paving, Inc. as a Project Manager and in 2009 began working for the Iosco County Road Commission as Engineer Manager.  He is a member of the Tawas Lions Club and very active in the City’s recycling efforts. ClerkTreasurerBlinda A. Baker was elected to the Council in November 2018.  She is a 1970 graduate of Tawas Area High School and a 1974 graduate of Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education.  Following several years of teaching at Tawas Area High School,  Blinda decided on a career change and was elected as the East Tawas City Treasurer in November 1985.  She was appointed Clerk/Treasurer in 1989 and City Manager in 2015.  She retired in July 2018 after more than 32 years with the City but stays busy with her involvement in many local organizations including Develop Iosco Inc., The Friends of the East Tawas Library, Tawas-Whittemore-Hale Area United Fund and Iosco County Right to Life.  She is active at Holy Family Catholic Church in the Council of Catholic Women, Holy Family Education Foundation, parish ministries and serves as the treasurer of the Gaylord Diocese Council of Catholic Women.  Blinda and her husband Ken have three children and six grandchildren. Dave Leslie

David (Dave) Leslie was elected to the City Council in November 2011. Dave and his wife, Lexie, have been residents of East Tawas since 1983.  Dave has worked for Star Cutter Company since the Fall of 1972.  Dave served on the East Tawas Planning Commission for more than ten years before being elected to the City Council.  He is currently the Council Representative to the Housing Commission.  Dave is active in the Tawas Area Lions and enjoys high school sports, golf and hunting.  Dave and Lexie have two grown children, Brandon and Brianne, and two grandchildren, Morgan and Trevor.  His contact information is Dave Leslie, 610 Sawyer Street, East Tawas, Michigan 48730. Mike MooneyMichael (Mike) Mooney was elected to the City Council in November 2016.  He has previously served on the Tax Increment Finance Authority (TIFA).  Mike is a life-long resident of East Tawas and is the owner of Mooney's Ben Franklin which is a family owned business.  He is a 1975 graduate of Tawas Area High School.  Mike is very active in the community especially in the East Tawas Business Association.  He is married to Laura and has two daughters.  His contact information is:  Mike Mooney, 100 Schirmer Drive, East Tawas, Michigan 48730. Lisa Bolen
was appointed to the City Council in March 2006 and was later elected in 2007. She served on the Planning Commission for three years prior to her appointment to the City Council. Lisa is a proud native of Northeast Michigan. She Graduated from Tawas Area High School in 1994. Lisa went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public Administration from Michigan State University in 1998. Lisa's professional experience includes fifteen years in workforce development, leaving her position as Chief Operating Officer of Michigan Works! in early 2015. In February 2015, Lisa was hired as Executive Director of Northeast Michigan Community Service Agency (NEMCSA), leading more than 650 staff and a $45 million budget. Lisa is the former President of Develop Iosco and is in her second term as President of the Tawas Area Chamber of Commerce. Lisa is also proud to serve on two alternative education school boards serving Iosco and Ogemaw Counties. She and her husband, John, also own and operate a small business, Tawas Bay Etchworks, that they started in 2005. John and Lisa are also proud parents of two boys, Ben and Braden. Joseph Kolts was appointed to the City Council in November 2022. He currently serves as the Council Representative for the Park Board.  Joseph is a lifelong resident of East Tawas and graduated from Tawas Area High School in 1985.  He attended Grand Rapids Junior College before transferring to Northwood University in Midland, Michigan, to study business.  In 1989, Joseph was hired by the United Parcel Service (UPS).  He worked at UPS as a delivery driver for thirty-three years before retiring in 2022.  Joseph was a member of the Teamsters Local 486/406.  He is a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.  His contact information is 505 Huron Street, East Tawas, Michigan 48730.  Email Joe
