Bruce Bolen has been Mayor since November 2005. He served as a Council member from November 1995 until November 2005 and as a Planning Commissioner from 1994 to 1995. Bruce has been a life-long resident of East Tawas and graduated from Tawas Area High School in 1981. He attended Michigan Technological University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1985. He became a Licensed Professional Engineer in 1989 while working for the United States Air Force. In 1995 Bruce began working for Bolen Asphalt Paving, Inc. as a Project Manager and in 2009 began working for the Iosco County Road Commission as Engineer Manager. He is a member of the Tawas Lions Club and very active in the City’s recycling efforts. Bruce is married to Chris and has three children -- Bryan, Morgan, and Paige. Duane (Dewey) Look has been a member of the City Council since 1992 and is currently Mayor Pro Tem and has served as the Council representative to numerous boards and commissions. He also serves the City as a representative on the Tawas Utilities Authority Board. Dewey has lived in East Tawas since 1959 and graduated from Tawas Area High School in 1968. He graduated from Ferris State University in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. Dewey began working for the Iosco County Road Commission in 1983 as an Equipment Operator and is currently working in the Engineering Department. Dewey and his wife, Rhonda, have one daughter, Jennifer, and two grandchildren -- Shawn and Carley. David (Dave) Leslie was elected to the City Council in November 2011. Dave and his wife, Lexie, have two children Brandon and Brianne.

Stephen (Steve) Klenow was appointed to the City Council in July 1998 to fill a vacancy and was elected in 1999. He served on the Planning Commission from 1992 to 1997. Steve is a life-long resident of East Tawas and is the owner of Klenow’s Market, a family-owned business in downtown East Tawas since 1900. He graduated from Tawas Area High School in 1967. He has been active in many community organizations including the Tawas Area Chamber of Commerce, the East Tawas Business Association, the Iosco County Historical Society, the Friends of the East Tawas Library, the Tawas Area Elks Lodge, Tawas Lions Club and East Tawas Mens Club. Joseph (Joe) Cano, Jr. was appointed to the City Council in July 2001 to fill a vacancy and was elected in 2003. He has served as the Council representative to numerous boards and commissions. He is a life-long resident of the community and graduated from Tawas Area High School in 1976. He has been employed at Tawas Tool Manufacturing Facility since 1978. He is involved in many community organizations including the Tawas Area Elks Lodge and Little League Board. He is also involved in officiating area school sports, sports programs and Special Olympics. Joe and his wife, Sherri, have two children -- Jamie and Shannon. Craig McMurray was elected to the City Council in November 2005. He has served as Council representative to numerous boards and commissions and had previously served three years on the East Tawas Housing Commission and four years on the Planning Commission. He has lived in the community since 1973 and graduated from Tawas Area High School in 1981. He received an Associate's Degree in Applied Science from Ferris State University in 1990 and he has been employed with Sunshine Realty since 1988. He has been active in many community organizations including the Tawas Area Chamber of Commerce, Tawas Elks Lodge, Tawas Area Lions, East Tawas Men’s Club and the Tawas City Fire Department. Lisa Bolen was appointed to the City Council in March 2006 and was elected in November 2007. She served on the Planning Commission for three years prior to her appointment to the City Council. She is a native of Northeast Michigan and graduated from Tawas Area High School in 1994. Lisa earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Administration from Michigan State University in 1998. She is also a Certified Workforce Development Professional recognized by the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals. She works for Northeast Michigan Community Service Agency (NEMCSA) in the Michigan Works! South Division as a Workforce Development Director for the Michigan Works! Region 7B area. She is a former chairperson of the Iosco County Human Services Coordinating Council, a representative of Develop Iosco, Inc. and Northeast Michigan Futures. She is currently involved in a multi-county suicide prevention team and Iosco County’s Poverty Reduction Initiative and is a member of the Tawas Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
